Overview

ANBIMA’s monthly Boletim de Fundos de Investimento — net assets, net flows, returns and fund counts per class (Renda Fixa, Ações, Multimercados, ETF, FIDC, FII, …), per ANBIMA type under each class, and for the industry as a whole. One function serves it long, exactly as published.
These rows are industry aggregates, not funds. No fund in this warehouse is mapped to an ANBIMA class — CVM’s classe is a different taxonomy — so nothing here joins to fund_nav, funds or panel, and a class is never matched to a fund by name. Use them as the benchmark they are.

anbima_classes

Arguments — all optional: An unknown category, metric or level raises 22023 listing what exists rather than returning an empty array — an empty array reads as “ANBIMA published nothing”, a different claim from “you misspelt the class”. One row per (reference date, class, type, level, metric):

Metrics and units

Values are as published — R$ milhões and percentage points — and unit says which, read off the metric name, never off the number: Class-level pl_brl_mm, captacao_liquida_brl_mm and fund_count carry the full published history (from 2006); the type-level and return series cover the trailing window each boletim edition prints (about 19 months). A longer type-level window returns what was published, not a reconstruction.

Why level is part of the grain

Cambial, FIP and FIAGRO each appear twice in the same boletim sheet — once as the class aggregate, once as an ANBIMA type of the identical name. level keeps them apart:
Note: one 1,000-row page, and it refuses above it (22023). No cursor — narrow the window, or pin a p_category or p_metric.

Freshness

coverage carries an anbima_classes row whose complete_through equals its as_of: a published edition is complete by construction, so there is no partial trailing month to clamp.

Not served here

  • A fund’s ANBIMA class. Not held; see the warning above.
  • A panel arm. These rows carry no id. Fetch the class series here and align it with a panel in the notebook.
